Now it is a good time to strengthen yourself. The summer time is over and the daily action should getting less. But in our modern time it is not as easy to follow the daoist wisdom. We have to follow the rhythm of the modern society for everything we got a timetable. Around our business or job we got only a little influence on our daily flow. The question is what we can do and how?, to follow the nature rhythm of the seasons.

First of all we have to understand the action of each season. By daoist philosophy the human body is the microcosmos and outside is the macrocosmos. We are always in exchange and the macrocosmos is like an energy resource for us if we following its nature. If we not following it means we using our potential and our Qi (vital energy) and get soon exhausted. The meaning of exhausted here is our immune system getting weak, we catch easily colds or other illnesses, we are not on our peak  performance what ever we do. Fighting the flow of the nature is one of the Qi stealer beside wrong diet. To follow the nature you must understand the nature first.

Now is autumn time and what is the action of it. If understand it its is easy to follow. First a list what you can see by yourself without any education.

Obvious:

  • crop
  • sap is retire (falling leaves)
  • getting colder and rainy
  • windy
  • shorter brightness

The action for you:

  • wearing correct clothes
  • earlier to bed (around 1h)
  • still standing up early
  • drinking from now on more warm drinks
  • go for a autumn walk

What you can´t see but what the sensitive ancient daoist master figure out by their meditation and energy work (Qi Gong).

Not obvious:

  • time of metal phase, structure/ hardness (Five phases cycle)
  • main time  of lung / large intestine (most energy)
  • Emotion> sorrow (autumn blues)

The action for you:

  • peaceful thoughts (against the hardness)
  • keep soul and mind together (breath/ lung stays calm)
  • don´t follow your desires to keep the lung pure
  • Qi Gong for Lung and Large Intestine

The one who do not follow the autumn laws will harm the lung system. He will get problems in digestion and will get diarrhea. He will not have enough power to keep the vital energy together in winter time.

Yin Yang – reading from classics

You can read a lot about explanation of Yin Yang. Saying Yin is this and Yang is that. Most of the time the explanation is missing why it is like this. Actually the theory is to understand the world or universe or live and its action. If you start to describe something as good you should understand there exist always a opposite. You can describe the night as Yin because you know there is its opposite the day i.e. Yang for example. Same for other things like cold / hot, men / women and so on. Important is to understand that to name something in Yin or Yang the opposite is already included. The Taiji symbol (most people calling it wrongly Yin Yang sign) is showing this understanding very clear. The small spots with its counterpart color within the Yin Yang are showing this deep understanding. If you name something its like one side of a coin it includes the other side of the coin. No good without bad, no happiness without sadness and so on. The Taiji symbol is also showing the dynamic of nature which of course is including our life. Everything is changing to its opposite after it reaches is maximum. Night changes to day life changes to dead one season is changing to the next one are examples of the everlasting processes of the hole universe including our life.

Huang Di said ‘I hear heaven is yang and earth is yin. The

moon is yin. How are these joined in man (Ling Shu)?’ and

physiology ‘The clear yang forms the skies; the turbid yin the

earth. The earthly energies rise above to form clouds; the

energy of the skies descends as rain. Therefore yang comes from

the upper openings; while turbid yin comes out from the lower

openings. The clear yang develops into the texture of the skin

and the turbid yin runs back into the five Zang (Suwen).

Health preservation and treatment is aimed at establishing

harmony with the universe.

seek for a real master…the journey

Only two days left toward to the Chinese border. After five days on the transsiberian train I´m used now to all kind of chicken dishes they were offering beside nothing else. During looking out of the train window I was dreaming to become a chicken. A old german song came to my mind: “ich wollt ich wär ein Huhn…” Suddenly one of my cabin member was tipping on my shoulder and was asking to join in for lunch. I start a big laugher. At the train restaurant we had chicken soup together followed by fried chicken breast. The restaurant service always asking for dollars for the payment and my small money notes were close to be empty. I still had a lot a lot of rubles currency left after my red square black market money changing  and KGB experience. Asking to pay the double price but in ruble currency the service always shaking head to show the no go. The other restaurant guests from the USSR could pay in ruble but the five tourists on the train had to pay in one dollar notes. After lunch we went to an other famous place. The place were the samovar was steaming. In every second wagon was one and it was also a good place for a chat with others while drinking black tea.

The colorful queue from different cultures in front of  samovar was a kind of meeting point for many who want to get in contact with others and to change information or for examples cigarettes. I was the one who get ask most to change cigarettes because I had tobacco to roll and most all smokers like to have a taste of it. To smoke we had to move to the space between the wagons. Between four and five people could stand there and the air was within seconds full of smoke. Full covered with thick clothes hand in the pockets cigarettes between the lips and the woolly down till eyebrows. The hole body was shivering while crossing meanwhile Siberia. Our smoking ritual became quite short because the temperature at the space between wagons was at least minus 30 degrees. Not even the warm smoke you could feel within the lungs and you got the feeling during breathing out ice cubes falling out of your mouth. After finishing we went always back to the samovar to get a cup hot water for warming our hands and body. I got somehow the impression that collective suffering makes it easier to become friends. Between chicken soup, tea from samovar, smoking in minus degrees and was at least 1-2h  learning Chinese language from a book as well to learn how to handle the chopsticks by fishing single nuts from a box. This was how the days and hours were passing by. Ones or twice a day the train were stopping at stations from cities or villages I never heard about. This was good opportunity to leave the train for few minutes. Like an animal at the Zoo I was running up and down along the platform to move and stretch my body and breath as deep and much as possible the cold fresh air in my lung. Inside the train it the smell was really nauseous. The people of course me as well had no chance to take shower only the small washbasin with icy water from the tap, brhhhh, the hole train was smelling like a Puma cage with no possibility to open windows. Running up and down the platform with bodily gymnastic as much and long as possible were the big highlights every day. Fill lung with fresh air and moving all joints how beautiful such things can be. Until the last whistle of train conductor I was enjoin jumping, running, slide on snow and ice, gymnastic and breath deeply. Around 4pm it starts to get dark in Siberia and the snow white wide landscape changed into a really. A further day was over and only one and half left to enter China border.

External enemies…

In Chinese medicine is a saying:

If your internal defense (Qi/vital energy )is strong and flowing no external enemy can strike you.

It sounds quite martial but its only a kind of view. And the so called not educated people in ancient China could understand its terminology easily.

External enemies:

  • Cold
  • Heat
  • Wind
  • Dryness
  • Dampness

These nature aspects of course not by it self enemies only if they can enter into your body. Then they can create so called blockages or in other words health problems. To prevent this it is necessary to keep our guard strong so these enemies can not enter the body. Several ways exist to keep the guard (defense Qi) strong. Here are some examples  from the classical wisdom of ancient china.

  • Live with nature rhythm
  • Exercises: Qi Gong / Chi Kung / Taijiquan
  • Food: 5 Element diet
  • Emotions: Keep them calm and balanced

Crane is symbolizing long life and immortality in Chinese culture.

Each of the listed ones has its own benefit but all the together they are a quite strong army against the so called external enemies. Each individual of them are to strengthen our defense Qi i.e. the guard. All together they build a strong army. This is the secret of a healthy life but the knowledge by itself not very helpful better start to bring it into your daily action. If you don´t you are the owner of death knowledge….

seaking for a real master….

Back from washing room I was climbing up to my bed under the celling. Actually you could only can lay down on the upper bed the space for a sit was to little. Between the train sound I could hear the breath of my cabin crew. Once in a while my head get bounced against the cabin wall when train the track wasn´t in good  condition – means often bämm, bämm. So during night I trained iron head hahaha even did not know about. My thoughts were running here and there and somehow I fall to sleep. I woke up because of the action of my cabin neighbors everybody very active beside me. My head felt like concrete the air in the cabin felt like zero oxygen. I remember now no way to open the windows. One night no oxygen what then about the other seven days came in my mind. Outside of the cabin I saw very busy people running forward backward loaded with towels and the morning toilette only one small washing room for one coach. So queue up for it is now normal and I should get use to it to spend at least 35 – 45 minutes if I´m lucky. After I finished my washing room action I decide to go for a good breakfast.

The pocket full of black market Rubel I will go now for a king breakfast so my thoughts. Happy that the KGB gave me all the black changed money fully back. The walk on the corridor was a small adventure. Most people standing there to chat or were looking out of window. Between the coaches the smokers were meeting for cigarettes in the small very cold area. The only space were it was allowed to smoke. “But first my king breakfast “I was telling the guys who like to invite me for a cigarette. Not as easy the talk because so many nations with different languages and or strange sounding a accents. After a round 30 Minutes walk in one direction I figure out it was the wrong side yeah….all the way back. Hellooo here helloooo there on my way back and again same question about “hey have cigarette together”. Aiaia what they calling cigarettes was looking very strange in their mouth and was smelling uhhhh. They calling them “Papirossa”, more paper or filter then tobacco. First time I saw and was smelling them. My stomach was already like a musician. Music like sound I heard from the abdominal area. All together It tool around 1h to find the so called restaurant couch. And of course a queue. Meanwhile I was observing the landscape by looking out of the window….I can say very exciting ….white and more white and not to forget a bit white in it…

Still thoughts about Winter retreat…

Winter as we know is normally cold time. Means the body has to start the internal heater means it needs more energy (Qi) to do the job of warming well. In my clinic this is the time patients with cold, influenza or infection of throat or ears coming now most. After interview it becomes quite clear why these people are catching easily the counted diseases. Most of them where not following the nature rhythm. Like the added list (Winter mistakes) in my blog before they doing more then half of it. Explanation like: “I read in a health magazine it is good to take fresh vitamins daily via fresh fruits, fruit juice or salad in specially in winter to avoid sickness ” and I always smilingly answering: “And way you are here now if its right what the so called health or fitness magazine is saying?” The few thousands year knowledge is proved from many critic but still existing and means it is tested from millions of humans. In the past they had no idea of vitamins or minerals but the sensitivity to be with the nature and follow the nature. The people of today are believing the magazines, newspaper and internet following the advices blind. They lost the ability to listen to actually need of their body. Qi Gong, meditation or yoga are good arts to get back to nature flow of sensitivity within our body. Of course you have to find high level teacher or master of the art for a good result. If you get more and more sensitive to your energy flow more and more your live will change even without any influence of external information. Listen and the answers will come by itself because of trained senses from your performed high level art. Trust yourself is becoming more and more a part of your live and you will less dependent of external information.

Few examples who are showing easily body energy reaction. Winter outside cold and you take also inside cold means the body has to work twice as hard to warm you or to keep you healthy. Its like an army who battle against to enemies in two direction. This wrong action of the most people during the winter season is by observing and experience the main factor to get sick in the cold season.

Because we don´t living with the nature we lost the rhythm of it. In all area we got for example the same or similar temperature regulated by heater or air con. This makes us feel of comfortable but also we are losing the sensitivity for the real energetic nature action. We wearing wrong clothes eating wrong food or drinks. Of course we are realizing the early sunset in Winter but the lights everywhere let us easily forget about it. The few hours of sunlight is showing us actually the action time during winter. You see its quite short. But we have to follow of course working hours rhythm in a tact of society.

Thats why we have to take care more about us in the not working hours. In Winter at least 1h or better 2h earlier to bed. This is for recharging the battery, whats our Kidneys. Winter time Kidney time very important to understand. Anyway each night the Qi (vital -energy) get stored in the Kidney for a later use. In Wintertime the storing is special powerful like I said already its the time of water-element means Kidney / Bladder. Like in hole nature the stored Qi is waiting for the next start ready for the autumn when the active action is starting again.

Avoid following winter mistakes:

  • less sleep
  • eating tropical fruits
  • drinking green tea
  • working overtime
  • cold feeds
  • not to go for a walk
  • cold drinks
  • to much action
  • night clubbing

Cold and flu time…hatschiieeee

The time of catching cold and flu is now present. In autumn and winter my clinic is full of these sickness or symptoms. Most people starting to late to change their clothes into warmer ones. Understandable because autumn can be very beautiful and sometime also warm during the day. So its not easy to make the right decision every morning before leaving the house. But to avoid the external evil like wind and cold you should be covered warm and when its getting warm you just take off some layers. If I´m looking out of my window at early morning I see the fog and dampness actually very beautiful after sunrise the fog and dampness slowly disappeared. Before leaving house look out of the window then you should choose your clothes.

  • take a warm drinks before leaving the house
  • wind covering clothes
  • take more ginger in drinks and food

  • take Chinese health mushrooms: Lingzhi or Yunzhi look at your asian drugstore

Autumn…part3

Good, now we know the Traditional Chinese Medicine had its the main influence from deep knowledge thousands of years of observation and the deep spirituell experience of daoist practitioner.

Autumn time is the lung time. The lung is the organ who disperse the Qi within the body and is nourishing the skin . To strengthen the lung you should especial take car of it in autumn time. Autumn is like I said before is the time where you can help the lung for increase its power because by nature the lung is ready to gathering it better in that time.  To help the lung in its work you can take care more by yourself in you skin. If do it the lung can have rest and store its energy. Sauna is for example good now to do and using creams after it and after shower is announced know.. More laughing as counterpart of the so called autumn melancholy. Many people suffering about the autumn melancholy because they are aware know of caducity. The summer is gone, the leaves falling down, the colors changing all this changing is the reason that quite many people mood is changing into a kind of melancholy or even depression. Lot of people catching now a flu or cold. The reason of it wrong diet still taken the summer food like salad, fruit juice, fruits from hot countries. With this kind of diet you open the doors and welcome the cold and the wind. Cold and wind are the factors for many diseases.

Simple rule but don´t take it to serious but the tendency should be in toward to this golden rule. Beside all this don´t forget the fun like so many health freaks are doing. These kind of people looking sick even they are absolutely doing everything right  from the diet aspect. Bon appetite
