Now it is a good time to strengthen yourself. The summer time is over and the daily action should getting less. But in our modern time it is not as easy to follow the daoist wisdom. We have to follow the rhythm of the modern society for everything we got a timetable. Around our business or job we got only a little influence on our daily flow. The question is what we can do and how?, to follow the nature rhythm of the seasons.
First of all we have to understand the action of each season. By daoist philosophy the human body is the microcosmos and outside is the macrocosmos. We are always in exchange and the macrocosmos is like an energy resource for us if we following its nature. If we not following it means we using our potential and our Qi (vital energy) and get soon exhausted. The meaning of exhausted here is our immune system getting weak, we catch easily colds or other illnesses, we are not on our peak performance what ever we do. Fighting the flow of the nature is one of the Qi stealer beside wrong diet. To follow the nature you must understand the nature first.
Now is autumn time and what is the action of it. If understand it its is easy to follow. First a list what you can see by yourself without any education.

Still autumn and it is good to understand what is the best action according to the nature flow of energy. Just back from Moscow where I was conducting following workshop:“The ancient wisdom of Taoists about living with the nature“.The seasonal module autumn and winter“. The attendees where very pleased about the deep knowledge of the ancient taoists philosophy. Actually all their wisdom and knowledge is from observation and very important by own experience from their daily practice. The daoist practice has quite a wide range depending which daoist school the students were following. It can be Chi Kung/ Qi Gong and or different ways of meditation and diet. In comparison to scientists who starting with a postulate and later they try to confirm it by tests and formulas. Ok now let say the daoist master was getting very sensitive because of his practice. He was writing down his experienced knowledge and thousands of practitioner later where confirming it or adjusting it according to their. Thousands of years experiencing and adjusting of taoists masters was making a very deep profound insight.
Autumn is related to metal
Metal quality is structure> action – reorganize
Taste > spicy > action eat more of it
Emotion > sorrow > action more laughing
Organ > Lung > action breathing exercises or Lung Qi Gong
If we look at that not complete list we can see about some of these experienced facts, actions and directions. Following the information of this list means eat more spicy food to strengthen the lung. More laughing as a counterpart of the emotion sorrow not to get the so called autumn depression. Do some breathing exercises in the nature and special Qi Gong for the lungs. According to the metal quality of structure you should reorganize and clean and release. What to reorganize ? Your desk for example or your computer; delay what you should have done already long time ago. Even for your wardrobe it is a good time to reorganize, donate your clothes you didn´t wear long time. To do all this in autumn time creates a good energy for you, means is good for your health and vitality only by following the nature.
The time of catching cold and flu is now present. In autumn and winter my clinic is full of these sickness or symptoms. Most people starting to late to change their clothes into warmer ones. Understandable because autumn can be very beautiful and sometime also warm during the day. So its not easy to make the right decision every morning before leaving the house. But to avoid the external evil like wind and cold you should be covered warm and when its getting warm you just take off some layers. If I´m looking out of my window at early morning I see the fog and dampness actually very beautiful after sunrise the fog and dampness slowly disappeared. Before leaving house look out of the window then you should choose your clothes.

Some rules to avoid catching cold these are general prevention:
take a warm drinks before leaving the house
wind covering clothes
take more ginger in drinks and food

If we want look deeper at the energy aspect of autumn we just have to observe how the nature is doing at that season. The three month of autumn also called time of collection and adjustment. The Qi of heaven is pressure and the Qi of earth is gorgeous. Autumn is the time of crop.
The Chinese character of autumn shows: growing grain and fire
The meaning is under the summer heat the grains are mature and after crop the Chinese were burning the left stubble field.

Good, now we know the Traditional Chinese Medicine had its the main influence from deep knowledge thousands of years of observation and the deep spirituell experience of daoist practitioner.
Autumn time is the lung time. The lung is the organ who disperse the Qi within the body and is nourishing the skin . To strengthen the lung you should especial take car of it in autumn time. Autumn is like I said before is the time where you can help the lung for increase its power because by nature the lung is ready to gathering it better in that time. To help the lung in its work you can take care more by yourself in you skin. If do it the lung can have rest and store its energy. Sauna is for example good now to do and using creams after it and after shower is announced know.. More laughing as counterpart of the so called autumn melancholy. Many people suffering about the autumn melancholy because they are aware know of caducity. The summer is gone, the leaves falling down, the colors changing all this changing is the reason that quite many people mood is changing into a kind of melancholy or even depression. Lot of people catching now a flu or cold. The reason of it wrong diet still taken the summer food like salad, fruit juice, fruits from hot countries. With this kind of diet you open the doors and welcome the cold and the wind. Cold and wind are the factors for many diseases.
One golden rule for health : Take in the opposite of the present weather
Simple rule but don´t take it to serious but the tendency should be in toward to this golden rule. Beside all this don´t forget the fun like so many health freaks are doing. These kind of people looking sick even they are absolutely doing everything right from the diet aspect. Bon appetite
