Yin Yang – reading from classics

You can read a lot about explanation of Yin Yang. Saying Yin is this and Yang is that. Most of the time the explanation is missing why it is like this. Actually the theory is to understand the world or universe or live and its action. If you start to describe something as good you should understand there exist always a opposite. You can describe the night as Yin because you know there is its opposite the day i.e. Yang for example. Same for other things like cold / hot, men / women and so on. Important is to understand that to name something in Yin or Yang the opposite is already included. The Taiji symbol (most people calling it wrongly Yin Yang sign) is showing this understanding very clear. The small spots with its counterpart color within the Yin Yang are showing this deep understanding. If you name something its like one side of a coin it includes the other side of the coin. No good without bad, no happiness without sadness and so on. The Taiji symbol is also showing the dynamic of nature which of course is including our life. Everything is changing to its opposite after it reaches is maximum. Night changes to day life changes to dead one season is changing to the next one are examples of the everlasting processes of the hole universe including our life.

Here some parts of classical texts:

‘When all people in the world know beautiful as beauty, there

appears ugliness; when they know goodness as good, there

appears evil. Therefore by opposing each other existence and

non existence come into being. Difficult and easy form

themselves, long and short are distinct high and low contrast,

sound and voice harmonize front and back emerge.’

Laozi

Out of  Huang Di Nei Jing, the classics of the yellow Emporer:

Huang Di said ‘I hear heaven is yang and earth is yin. The

moon is yin. How are these joined in man (Ling Shu)?’ and

physiology ‘The clear yang forms the skies; the turbid yin the

earth. The earthly energies rise above to form clouds; the

energy of the skies descends as rain. Therefore yang comes from

the upper openings; while turbid yin comes out from the lower

openings. The clear yang develops into the texture of the skin

and the turbid yin runs back into the five Zang (Suwen).

Health preservation and treatment is aimed at establishing

harmony with the universe.

Nondualistic Mentality

All of the dualities of live are mutually depend and mutually necessary. Here the quote about from Laotse in:

Tao Te Ching (21-2) In the world, everyone recognize beauty as beauty, since the ugly is also there. Everyone recognize goodness as goodness, since evil is also there.

Laotse_s

When one searches only for beauty one stigmatizes the ugly. When people see beauty as pure beauty they view the ugly disparagingly. In valuing the good as purely good their judgement is based upon the idea of bad. But the universal manifests through the division of two from one, each depends on its opposite. So what ? One exist because the opposite exist ! If one would not exist the other would also not exist. Mhhhh, then it would be no separation no judgement means paradise, Shangri-La, nirvana, heaven or Wuji like the daoist are saying.

seek for a real master….the journey

Laying in cabin on my bed with folded arms and was thinking about the motivation why I started the journey to the east. Thinking I mastered already the martial art Ju Jutsu was the youngest man with third Dan master degree at that time in Germany. Competing around 150 times and was loosing only four or five time. Something was missing something was not complete this was my internal feeling.

I read about the masters in past from Asia who had so much different skills beside the fighting aspect.  At the TV was running series Kung Fu with David Carradine. Grashopper and the conversation with his blind master very inspiring. In that series I was hearing first time about the Shaolin and their high level Kung Fu and their history. Actually the hole 70´s until mid 80´s was full of Kung Fu movies and books and also not to forget to name Bruce Lee who was opening the eyes for the westerner about the Chinese culture. My teenager time and my twenties full of influence of Kung Fu even some music hits like “Everybody is Kung Fu fighting” from Carl Douglas were entering the music charts. Before Kung Fu only Judo, Karate or Aikido was known in Europe. These are all Japanese styles now the time of the Chinese style had come. The arts of the Samurais and Ninjas was now exchanged to Konfutse and Laotse or for the  warrior monks of Shaolin. Years I was storing the money for the journey to the east to China. Now only two and half days left to enter the mysterious China. At that time still under the regency of hard communist leaders. With this thoughts and the typical sound of the train I was falling to sleep. Only two and a half days forward and I will be in the country were want to find my real master. I felt a bit sorrow for the travelers in my cabin because they just want enter China as tourist and to make photo shoots.
